Initial situation
The city of Schaffhausen wants to offer people a liveable, progressive and resource-conserving living space. To this end, it adopted a smart city strategy in August 2020. The strategy focuses on four key topics ("Society", "Services", "Mobility", "Environment, energy and infrastructure") and relies on cross-departmental collaboration. A total of 43 smart city projects were launched by spring 2024.
As part of the "Smart building management" implementation project, pom+ developed a data model for optimised building management in collaboration with various specialist departments. It enables the structured presentation and organisation of existing and required data, improves data quality and generates insights into the various data sources. In the next step, a process plan is developed from this in order to fulfil the requirements and needs of tomorrow. The data model therefore also provides a basis for future system procurements or adjustments to the digital infrastructure.
Procedure and solution
The work results from the "Smart building management" project were consolidated in order to develop the basic principles. In interviews with various specialist departments, the first step was to gain an understanding of the organisational structures and individual processes in the context of building management. In the subsequent situation analysis, pain points (problems) were discussed and the relevant business objects identified. Based on the previous situation analysis, an asset information model (AIM) was developed, framework conditions for maintenance and archiving were defined and possible variants for digital operational and building documentation were developed. Finally, an implementation plan with concrete measures was developed on the basis of the data strategy and the application landscape.
